Hello Jeff, yes the mound piece is secured together. The mound has enough weight it does not need to be secured to the ground. Lead time right now for the mound is 6-8 weeks.

Easy to put together but it is heavy and two people are needed. It's built well and only time will tell how it holds up to south Florida weather. Its a good size to have in the yard so my son can practice whenever he wants.
